Macklin Celebrini Misses Game Sharks Suffer 5-0 Loss to Stars

San Jose Sharks standout center Macklin Celebrini was absent from the team’s lineup during their 5-0 defeat against the Dallas Stars on Monday night due to a lower-body injury. The team disclosed the information just before the game began, noting that although Celebrini participated in warmups, he left the ice earlier than expected.

Coach Ryan Warsofsky confirmed that Celebrini is still under evaluation, revealing no further details about the severity of the injury. In Celebrini’s absence, former Stars player Ty Dellandrea stepped in, marking his first appearance of the season.

The absence of Celebrini, who is not only the franchise’s captain but also a significant offensive contributor, was deeply felt by the Sharks. The team struggled, particularly on defense, and was ultimately overwhelmed by the Stars. San Jose was outshot 26-14 throughout the game.

This season is crucial for Celebrini, coming after his signing a substantial five-year, $94 million contract extension over the summer. Prior to his injury, he had accumulated five points in just two games, following a previous season where he tallied a remarkable 115 points, ranking him fourth in the NHL.
